These candles are made for a Halloween table with a little mystery! 🕯️🖤

At first glance, they look like dark, dripping candles straight out of a haunted house. But take a closer look, and you'll find layers of rich, fudgy brownies covered in smooth chocolate ganache, finished with glossy drips that look just like melting wax.

Made with Lakanto Sugar Free Brownie Mix and Lakanto Sugar Free Chocolate Chips, these Brownie Candles turn a homemade chocolate dessert into a Halloween showstopper. They're dramatic enough to steal the spotlight on your dessert table and delicious enough that no one will guess just how spooky things are about to get.

A Little Darkness on the Dessert Table

If you're looking for a Halloween treat that goes beyond the usual cookies and cupcakes, these Brownie Candles are it. Their candle-like shape and dark chocolate finish make them feel right at home at a haunted dinner party or an evening of gathering with the spirits.

The best part is that the candle design is created entirely from brownie layers and chocolate. Stack, shape, frost, and add the drips to bring these edible decorations to life.

Why You'll Love These Brownie Candles

  • A spooky statement dessert: The tall shape and dripping black finish make these brownies a standout addition to your Halloween spread.
  • Rich chocolate in every layer: Fudgy brownies, smooth ganache, and a chocolate drip come together for a decadent treat.
  • Made with Lakanto favorites: Lakanto Sugar Free Brownie Mix and Lakanto Sugar Free Chocolate Chips make up the base of this chocolate creation.
  • Perfect for Halloween hosting: They're a fun centerpiece for a dessert table, Halloween party, or spooky dinner with friends.
  • A creative baking project: With a little layering and decorating, you can turn simple brownies into something truly memorable.

The Chocolate Layers Behind the Magic

Fudgy Brownie Base

Every candle starts with Lakanto Sugar Free Brownie Mix. Once baked and cooled, the brownies are cut into circles and stacked to create the height of each candle. Their rich chocolate flavor makes the perfect base for the layers of ganache to come.

Smooth Chocolate Ganache

Lakanto Sugar Free Chocolate Chips and heavy whipping cream come together to create a silky ganache that holds the brownie layers together and coats the outside. Once cooled and thickened, it helps give each candle its smooth, finished shape.

The Dark Chocolate Drip

The final touch is a melted chocolate mixture that can be piped around the top edge of each candle to create those signature wax-like drips. Black food coloring gives the chocolate its dramatic finish, making each candle look almost too spooky to eat.

Creating the Perfect Candle Shape

The secret to these Brownie Candles is giving each layer time to firm up before decorating. Stacking the brownie circles with ganache between them creates the structure, while a short chill in the refrigerator helps everything hold together.

Once the stacks are firm, spread the ganache over the top and sides until the shape looks smooth. Then comes the fun part: piping the chocolate drips. Vary their lengths slightly for a more natural melting-wax effect.

You don't need every candle to look identical. A little variation makes the finished display feel more realistic and adds to the spooky charm.

Gather With the Spirits

Some Halloween treats are meant to disappear without a trace. These Brownie Candles are meant to make an entrance first.

With fudgy brownie layers, silky chocolate ganache, and dramatic dripping details, they're a delicious way to bring a little dark magic to your Halloween table. Make a batch, set the scene, and let your guests discover what's hiding beneath the candlelight.

The Halloween Centerpiece That Steals the Show

Arrange your Brownie Candles on a dark serving platter or cake stand and let them take center stage. They pair perfectly with other homemade Halloween treats and make a fun addition to a table filled with moody colors, spooky details, and chocolate desserts.

For the full effect, vary the height of your candles and let the chocolate drips take their own path down the sides. The result is a dessert display that looks straight out of a haunted gathering.

Just remember to keep these edible candles separate from real flames. They're made for admiring, sharing, and eating!

Ingredients

    Brownie

    • 1 package (9.7 oz) Lakanto Sugar Free Brownie Mix
    • 2 eggs
    • ½ cup coconut oil, melted
    • Nonstick cooking spray

    Chocolate Ganache

    • 1 package Lakanto Sugar Free Chocolate Chips
    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 2 tbsp black food coloring

    Chocolate Drip

    • 1.5 oz Lakanto Sugar Free Chocolate Chips (About half a package)
    • 1.5 tbsp coconut oil
    • 1 tbsp black food coloring

    Directions

      Bake the brownies

      1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray the baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

      2. Make the brownie batter following the package directions.

      3. Spread the batter evenly in the pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.

      4. Let the brownies cool completely.

      Make the ganache

      1. Put the chocolate chips in a medium heatproof bowl.

      2. Heat the cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just starts to simmer. Don't let it reach a rolling boil, because that's too hot.

      3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2–3 minutes. Then stir slowly with a large metal spoon or silicone spatula until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

      4. Stir in the black food coloring until the color is even.

      5. Leave the ganache at room temperature to cool and thicken. Don't refrigerate it.

      Build the candles

      1. Use the cookie cutter to cut 3-inch circles from the cooled brownies.

      2. Stack two circles with 1 tsp of ganache between them. For a stable candle, go no higher than three layers.

      3. Wrap each stack in cling wrap and stand it upright in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up.
