Brown Monkfruit Sweetened Boba Tea (Sugar-Free)

Apr 19, 2022 14:19:51PM

Brown sugar milk tea with boba is a classic drink option available at nearly every tea shop and has gained a cult following. Some of those tea shop drinks have a whopping 38 grams of sugar!

Make this at home with our Brown Monkfruit Sweetener and cut the sugar. It is so uncomplicated to make and so addicting!

The secret in this recipe is in the Brown Monkfruit Sweetened syrup bath.  It sweetens the boba pearls, as well as the drink. Steep the boba pearls in this syrup for about 30 minutes before serving. Also, use about 1 tablespoon of this syrup to sweeten the entire drink altogether. The sweetness level depends on your personal preference. You can add more or less syrup based on taste.

Enjoy!

Ingredients in Brown Monkfruit Sweetened Boba Tea:

Instructions for Brown Monkfruit Sweetened Boba Tea:

Step 1: Prepare the Tea

Steep 8 bags of tea (or three tablespoons of loose leaf tea) with 3 cups of freshly boiled water. Allow the tea to sit in the water for 5 full minutes. Keep in mind that you’re adding milk and ice cubes so you want the tea to be strong. Strain your tea into a pitcher and place in the refrigerator to cool completely.

Step 2: Make the Brown Sweetener Syrup

Add ½ cup water and ½  cup Lakanto Brown Sweetener to a saucepan and stir together.  Heat on medium heat just until the water boils and the sugar completely dissolves. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool.

Step 3: Get the Tapioca Pearls Ready

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add the 1 cup tapioca pearls, stirring them until they float to the top. Cook them according to the package instructions. When they’re ready, place them in a colander and quickly rinse them with cold water. Add them to the Brown Sweetener Syrup and allow them to sit for 30 minutes until sweetened.

Step 4: Assemble the Bubble Tea

Divide the cooled tapioca pearls and a Tablespoon or two of the Brown Monkfruit Sweetener syrup between 4, 12 oz glasses. Add 1 cup of ice. Pour 1 cup of cooled, prepared tea and 2 Tablespoons of milk. Drizzle some Lakanto Vanilla Flavoring Syrup on top with some extra milk, if desired. Sip with a wide drinking straw to slurp Boba pearls!

Makes 4 servings in a 12 ounce glass
