Popular drink found linked to 184,000 deaths last year

According to a study reported by The Washington Post, sugar is literally killing us. The consumption of sugary drinks has been linked to over 184,000 adult deaths around the world each year. Researchers at Tufts University found that one in every 100 deaths from obesity-related diseases is related to the consumption of sugary drinks. The research also concluded that sugary drinks are to be responsible for 133,000 deaths from diabetes, 45,000 from cardiovascular disease and 6,450 from cancer.

This study shows that sugar consumption is a serious threat to life across the globe and especially the United States. Two-thirds of women and three-quarters of men in the U.S. are overweight or obese and more than 25,000 adult deaths a year are linked to sugary beverage consumption.

Sugar is the new tobacco and it is taking lives. We have to stay aware of the damage sugar can cause to our health and consider alternatives that aren’t toxic to our bodies, yet appeal to the sweet tooth.

Many sugar alternatives are currently on the market, but Monk Fruit is especially appealing because it contains zero calories and has a sweeter taste than sugar. Lakanto is a monk fruit sweetener that tastes and cooks just like sugar, but with one big difference: Zero calories and a zero glycemic index won’t affect your blood sugar levels.

Sugar will kill us if we let it. Stand up for your health and fight against sugar.

  • It’s not the sugar that’s killing us, it’s the corn syrup that is. Note:There is a difference!
